The City of Portland will hold a rally Friday morning to call for a renewed committment for all modes of transportation and officially launch the “Portland Share the Road campaign.

As the press release says, “The idea is to show respect to get respect. The City hopes that everyone will make it a point to walk, cycle, ride, and drive as an ambassador of safe and pleasant travel.

The BTA has been part of a big team to launch this effort. Partners include Portland’s Mayor Tom Potter, Commissioner Sam Adams, the American Automobile Association, TriMet, Portland Public Schools, Willamette Pedestrian Coalition, Portland Police Bureau, the Oregon Trucking Association, Elders in Action and others.

The rally will take place from 8:30 – 9:30 at the Salmon Springs Fountain in Waterfront Park.

As part of the “Portland Shares the Road” campaign, all City vehicles will soon display an “I Share the Road” sticker, and stickers will also be available for any citizen.

Join us there and make a positive statement for sharing the road!
