An inspiring article this morning in the Vancouver Columbian newspaper mentions how the BTA’s bike commute challenge “added momentum” to the folks at Wallis Engineering who have found ways to promote bike commuting by employees.
Half of the consulting firm’s 19 employees commute to work at least part of the year, partially driven by a $50 monthly bonus for those who don’t drive 90% of the time. It used to be a $500 bonus for a year of car-free commuting.
I know an engineer at King Cycle who told me that, in honor of National Bike Month, they get an additional vacation day for each 2 weeks they bike to work in May. Pretty cool!
