While same-gender marriage is dominating the airwaves, we’ve got our own take on marriage that’s seeming to get more popular.
On Saturday, U.S. Rep. Rick Boucher (D-VA) got married on a bicycle trail — on a former railroad bridge on the Virginia Creeper Trail. Before the ceremony, the couple rode 10 miles, and after the wedding, they rode 10 miles back to Abingdon. (More from the Washington Post)
Of course, Portland’s done the bike wedding, where Timo Forsberg got married to his bike, Elicia Cardenas got married to her Vanilla, and recent TriMet ads have a woman in a wedding dress on her bike, with the caption “Are you and your bike inseparable?” and they’ve created the “trimet.org/bikelove” URL. Other Portlanders have gotten married to each other with bike themes, too!
Stay tuned for next year’s Multnomah County Bike Fair, when I will host a “Cheat on Your Bike” Booth.
