Almost every day I call the City of Portland. I report everything from low-hanging branches to glass in bike lanes. And they’re remarkably good at cleaning things up quickly.


Safe Routes Portland Finishes First Year

The very first year of walking and biking to school programs led by the BTA and partners has finished at eight schools. This PDOT-sponsored pilot project is paid for by speeders and red-light runners, and it is increasing the number of kids who get around by bike and on foot.

Yesterday I biked north to attend a presentation where Vancouver, WA received a Bronze Bike Friendly Communities award from the League of American Bicyclists. Corvallis, Eugene, Beaverton and Bend are also bike-friendly communities, in the running with Portland to reach Platinum.
