‘Bicycle Boulvards’ are becoming a household term. The BTA’s campaign to increase the number of these low-traffic bicycle routes has made headlines in Oregon and has been picked up by other groups nationally. Last month the National Resource Defense Council’s maginzine On Earth maganzine featured an article about bicycle boulevards in Portland.
On July 20th, the Active Living Network features bicycle boulevards on their newsletter. The ALN is a national organization that promotes activity-friendly community design, which creates safe and convenient opportunities for people to walk or bike between destinations. Each month they publish a newsletter that discusses national trends and research. This month they picked up Portland’s focus on Bicycle Boulevards and the Oregonian article written by Jeff Mapes.

The BTA is proud to be leading a campaign to increase low-traffic bicycle streets and lower the bar to bicycling for all.
