Kids go back to school in 3 weeks, oh my! BTA needs help tuning up the rest of our kids’ mountain bikes used in our Bicycle Safety Education program and after-school Pedal Power program. A few weeks ago, volunteers cranked through about half of our fleet; now we need help getting the other bikes into a ‘ready-to-ride’ shape.
WHEN: Saturday, August 19
WHERE: NE 17th at NE Davis (between East Burnside and NE Sandy Blvd.)
WHAT: Tuning up bikes to make sure they’re safe and ready to roll. Typical procedures include tightening or replacing cables, adjusting brakes, adjusting derailleurs and drive train, and fixing an occasional flat tire.
TIMES: 9:00-4:00 (stop by before making your way to Tour de Fat!)
DROP BY: feel free to help out for a couple hours or the whole shift
PERKS: knowing you’re helping a good cause, playing with bikes, and consuming free refreshments (including LUNCH!)
SUPPLIES: we have some tools and stands, but plan to bring your own if you have them
