It’s been making the rounds, and now it lands on our blog… the famous “salmon in a bike lane” video. As our policy director Scott Bricker noted, “I’m not sure that’s legal.”
We hear that trout have challenged salmon in next year’s Bike Commute Challenge.
UPDATE: This just in from Vermont.

Racoons think they own the bike lane on North Vancouver. I’ll try to snap a photo next time I see ‘em.
Sorry to be the grump again, but at least the salmon was going with traffic… galloping against traffic is one of the most dangerous behaviors a moose road user can do
I’ve discussed this with several moose who have told me they would rather see the vehicle that’s running them down than have it get them from behind.
I wonder if the Dept of Homeland Security knows about rampant, terrorist salmon roaming the streets of Sandy, honey, fire up the smoker, I’m gonna get Osalmon bin laden
I’m pretty sure that pedestrians (including quadrupedal ones) should walk *against* traffic, so that they can have a shot at getting out of the way of oncoming traffic.
I don’t know how that applies to a salmon, though. I mean, it’s not exactly walking, but it is traveling as part of it’s spawning “cycle”…..
