Two BTA Members Elected to Key Regional Posts

The BTA has some high-profile friends: Rex Burkholder, Earl Blumenauer, Chuck Burley, Sam Adams, Jackie Dingfelder. And after the election, now we have two more elected officials who care about biking.

Kathryn HarringtonKathryn Harrington was recently elected to the Metro Council. In a tough race against a high-profile opponent, Harrington raised over $200,000 and worked for the past year to win a Metro Councilor position. The Councilors are paid $32,000 a year — making serving a true public service. Harrington is a smart, thoughtful woman who comes from the high-tech industry and is a recreational cyclist. She previously served on a Metro regional transportation subcommittee and we’re excited to work with her in her new role.

Lynn PetersonLynn Peterson was elected to the Clackamas County Commission. A transportation planning consultant who formerly worked at TriMet, 1000 Friends of Oregon, and for Earl Blumenauer, Peterson upset an incumbent commissioner and looks to guide Clackamas County as it works through the challenges of speedy growth. We’re looking forward to collaborating with Lynn on that effort!
