20s Bike Boulevard Funds Denied

Unfortunate news: the Bike Boulevard project in Portland’s east 20s (a North-South route which moves among the 20s depending on location) hasn’t made it through the ODOT first cut list for Transportation Enhancements (TE) funding.

TE funds are very competitive, with project applications more than four times the available money.

Review the list of projects that moved forward, including a Springwater Trail connection and Columbia Slough Trail in Portland, the preliminary engineering and right-of-way for a Corvallis-Albany connecting trail, and, yes, $420,000 in signs to welcome people to Oregon from California.

The list is now at the Transportation Enhancements Advisory Committee; the Oregon Transportation Commission will make the final cut in February or March.

The BTA will continue to look for other sources for boulevard funding, and push forward on the 50s and 70s boulevards in Portland.
