BTA on a Roll (again)

bike moveWe’ve received word that TriMet is negotiating to buy the building we rent in and vacate the tenants. TriMet will tear down the building and use the block as part of the turn-around area for the light rail that will be running on the revamped transit mall.

Timing isn’t firm yet, but we’re likely to move offices late spring or early summer.

As we were grateful for all of you who helped us paint, set up, and move into our current offices just this past August, think of that as practice for this year’s move into our yet-to-be-found next office.

If you know of a good space in central Portland that’s about 2000 square feet (and has good secure bike parking), let us know! Thanks.

Move only to have to move again. Were you wanting to stay in your current office long-term? If they were putting MAX in a tunnel, this probably could have been avoided, unless they wanted to use the space for a tunnel shaft or station. And speaking of the new transit mall, if the auto/bike lane starts filling up with cars/trucks, has anyone considered getting the lane limited to human-powered vehicles, at least during the peak periods?

This is the first I’ve read of your impending eviction and yet another move. I just finally got to visit you there the other day for the first time! Do you have any leads yet? I’ll ask around and keep my eyes peeled.

Message me offline if you want to discuss further.

I like the current discussion going on at BikePortland.org regarding the possibility of putting you and/or a BikeStation in the vacant building on the waterfront. Does the BTA have any response to those comments? Seems like it would really help with the BTA’s visibility–something in my mind that has always seemed lacking with the current and immediately past locations. I’m curious to hear your opinion.
