If you need a new bike, now’s the time to get one — and benefit the BTA — all at the same time! The March 10th auction line-up includes:
An Electra Amsterdam (donated by the Bike Gallery). Classic European style and functionality with a clean, modern ride. Slightly forward pedaling position for increased torque and stability; an internal 3-speed hub; coaster brakes. This puppy rocks; winner chooses model and color. Dig it!
A Bike Friday tikit (donated by Bike Friday). Claimed to be the world’s fastest folding bike; comes with 8 speeds, a saddle, pedals, fenders, a classy brass bell, folding pedals, and an optional front rack and pannier bag that stay in place while you swish, click, and fold. Just how small can you make it? The tikit folds into something the size of a small suitcase. Wow!
A Trek Soho (donated by Trek). An understated burnished finish on its high quality Alpha aluminum frame. Comes with its own coffee mug! The Bontrager Select wheels add zip to the ride, while front and rear disc brakes offer stopping confidence in Portland rain. Fans of the Soho love that it’s both comfortable for city riding and fast for when you’re running late. Whew!
A Breezer Zag8 folding bicycle with rack (donated by Breezer and Veloce Bicycles). Breezer folding bikes feature lightweight, wide-range derailleur gearing and 20-inch wheels. Their state-of-the-art aluminum frames can be folded in seconds. The “kick-flip folding pedals are a treat to use. Fenders and kickstand included. Pow!
And of course, the three bikes we already wrote about.
Ira Ryan custom frame and fork (donated by Ira Ryan Cycles). Regardless of whether you commute, race, or messenger, Ira Ryan can build you a beautiful bicycle on which to explore the world. Beautiful!
A Clever Cycles Bakfiets (donated by Clever Cycles). This is a modern interpretation of classic commercial freight bicycles, and looks and handles dreamily. Shazam!
A carbon fiber Titus Modena 56 cm frame (donated by CyclePath). Wham!
Some of these bikes are really cool, my daughter would go nutz for one of these! (Me too actually!)
