Well, it’s that time of year again and I’d like to take a moment here to say THANK YOU to the fine gentlemen at the PSU Bike Co-Op, a 2007 Alice Awards Nominee, for coming out on a beautiful, if blustery, Saturday to lend their time and skill to tune up 34 of our Bike Safety and Pedal Power bikes. Ian Stude, Mitch Pryor and Adam Roberts trued wheels, replaced chains, adjusted brakes and derailleurs, lubed, greased and generally re-made a bunch of 24â€? bikes that will help Portland Metro area school kids learn to ride safely and confidently. Both Ian and Adam have volunteered in the past to tune up these bikes and their experience coupled with Mitch’s fast hands and my triage helped us get through as many bikes as we did. Thanks again guys!
I’d also like to thank Kevin Chudy and his crew at Bike-n-Hike for their tireless (ha,ha) efforts as well. Another 2007 Alice Awards Nominee Kevin has been instrumental in making Bike Safety Education and Pedal Power a possibility and, indeed a true success here in Portland. THANK YOU! to the Bike-n-Hike mechanics, sales staff, management and of course Kevin.
