…really. Ira is the kind of guy that makes you smile at 8 o’clock in the morning after a long night of debauchery when you really can’t even smile because it hurts so bad in your eye sockets. But he’s there with his black coffee and calloused, grease stained fingers smiling and sincerely excited to see you. He’s been up since 5am or something, already finished his training ride and is en route to St. John’s where he passes his days, and nights, harrassing Hans the bike mechanic and hand-crafting beautiful, utilitarian bicycles for us. It is a labor of love and Ira wants to share that love with you.
Ira Ryan has been working hard to prepare for the Hand-Built Bike Show in March, where he will be showing off some of his handywork along with the old guard of frame builders. I have the distinct pleasure of owning an Ira Ryan and was recently asked if my little piece of Ira’s love could be included in the show! Stoked! 
Ira has donated a hand-crafted frame and fork to be auctioned at the BTA’s 2007 Alice Awards Saturday, March 10th. In his own words it is a bicycle that “…is based on your needs and limited only by your imagination.”
