April 3: Ride NW Portland; Then Celebrate Ping

Next Tuesday gives Portland’s cyclists a dilemma, and many among us may split our evening.

First up is a tour of Northwest Portland  with City Bike Coordinator Roger Geller. Northwest has remarkably low bike numbers; what can be done about it?

April 3rd at 5:15 – Meet at Terry Schrunk Plaza (SW 3rd & Main)

Portland Office of Transportation is leading monthly Bikeway Network Rides. They’re fun and informative.  This month we’ll take a 10-mile swing through NW Portland.

  • Come see the sharrows
  • Look where we wish to put a bike bridge across I-405
  • Ride across a bike lane on a streetcar stop
  • Ride in 6-foot bike lanes
  • Ride the NW Bike Boulevards

What we really want to know is how well does the existing system work for you? How can we improve? What would it take to get more people riding?

Following the ride feel free to participate in a discussion about these topics at the Rogue Ale Public House at 1339 NW Flanders.

You might split from the group after an hour, however, and sneak over to North Portland’s The WayPost, to thank the BTA’s outgoing Safe Routes Director Robert Ping.

5:30 to 7:30 pm
at The Way Post
3120 N Williams Ave.

It’ll be no-host bar, some snacks, good stories, Robert’s cute kids, and lots of BTA bike nuts. We hope you can come!
