Kimberly Ann Potter, 41, was killed Tuesday morning around 2:30am while cycling on US 97 in Bend near Powers Road (near the Bend Factory Stores). She was struck from behind by a car.
The car driver, Christopher Goodson, 22, of California fled the scene and his father later reported the car stolen. The car was later found burned, and guns and cocaine were found at Goodson’s apartment. Goodson has been charged with criminally negligent homicide; second-degree manslaughter, assault, and conspiracy to commit arson; reckless driving; and reckless endangering.
Our thoughts are with Kimberly’s family and friends.
From the Bend Bulletin article:
Potter, 41, was riding her bike to a convenience store on Third Street just north of Powers Road. She lived nearby, according to a neighbor. She was biking north and was in the roadway passing a city maintenance vehicle when she was struck from behind by a late-model Mercedes. Potter was likely killed on impact, when she suffered multiple and massive traumatic injuries.
If Goodson is innocent, then why did he run? Why did he try to destroy evidence? And shame on you people who think Kim would be alive if she had a licence. She loved her bike and she loved to ride it. To suggest someone has the right to run us down if we’re on a bike is ludacris!
