Free Green Bikes in Waldport

KATU News picked up the AP story of free green bikes available on the streets of Waldport, OR. As someone who was involved in an orange bikes program in Corvallis back in the mid-1990s, and inspired by the yellow bike program in Portland a few years earlier, which was inspired by the free white bikes in Amsterdam…. it’s good to see the idea continue.

Read the story.

Well, you get the idea. Inspiring ideas will continue to be tried, and tried again. In this case, they report on a crabber pulling a green bike out of the bay, an 80-year old DUII who used a bike until he could drive again, and so forth.

Good luck, Waldport!

Note: more and more cities are trying the model of checking out bikes with credit cards and the list, and Arcata, CA has its library bike program. More about these, from my VeloCity trip, soon!
