From the Eugene Register-Guard article:
A driver who may have been suffering from a medical condition struck and killed a 43-year-old Eugene woman on West 18th Avenue Saturday [June 16].
Elaine Lenore Shotridge was traveling east in the bike lane near the intersection at City View Street at 12:16 p.m. when she was hit from behind by an older Volvo station wagon driven by Phillip James Miller, 42, of Eugene.
Apparently the driver was swerving all over the road before the crash.
…. Excessive speed, alcohol and drugs have been ruled out as factors in the collision.
…. It is unknown whether Shotridge was wearing a bicycle helmet. Officials were uncertain whether it would have helped protect her, police spokeswoman Melinda Kletzok said.
Our thoughts are with the Shotridge family.

Elaine I was there when this horrible thing happened to you and my family and I just wanted to say that we are prayers are with your family.
Elaine is my cousin, even though its been many years since we saw one another her death has hit me very hard.
My prayers are with my aunt, uncle and cousins I love and miss you all so very much. I wish I could be there. Please know you are in my prayers.
So many close friends and family at the longhouse memorial, it was packed-full of people and children running around. Carl played songs for Elaine on KLCC-FM right before the memorial began.

As organizer for the inaugural “Westside Ride of Silence” on May 16th last, it grieves my heart, even at this late date to hear about your loss.
In her memory, I have posted her name, date of death and link to the newspaper article, to the literally, World-Wide web site at rideofsilence(dot)org.
It may take a few days for her name and the link to the story in the Eugene Register Guard to appear.
Her family is in our prayers as we ride in her memory and others who have had their lives needlessly cut short.
Thankyou so much for setting this up so that people can remember my Aunty Elaine. We are all still shocked and hurting, but seeing so many people at the long house, and all of the calls and cards from people that were in her life have shown our family how many facets of beauty that she shown on the people that she cared about. Her memory will surely live on with all of the stories of her life, and we are all so thankful for the last gift she gave us, her son.
