The BTA has been working to increase bicycle boulevards for the past 18 months. We’ve made a lot traction in getting the word out statewide and are working with the City of Portland to significantly increase the number of bicycle boulevards through their Safe and Sound campaign.
Jonathan Maus of bikeportland.org is currently visiting Vancouver B.C., and is finding what we found – that their bicycle boulevard system rocks. They have great on-street stencils and diversion that permits bicycles, not cars, to pass. These diversions effectively slow cars and limit the number of cars on the street.
