Hundreds of students walked to school this morning in a Forest Heights Neighborhood. Through the fog, they came in droves, walking in numbers for safety. One parent said that she left home with 3 kids and got to school with 6, picking up a few neighbors along the way. At the school a parent volunteer handed out Safer Routes to School t-shirts, pencils, and stickers while coffee was provided for walkers over the age of 21. Over 250 people walked to school today that would have normally driven. I don’t know what the numbers are for CO2 emissions, but any reduction is good enough for me. Thanks parents, teachers and students for doing your part! What a safe and healthy way to start the day.
