The new Oregon Share the Road license plate is available for purchase. The plates were created as a result of the passage of Oregon Senate Bill 789-A, sponsored by Sen. Floyd Prozanski, D-Eugene. Proceeds from the sale of the plates will be distributed to cycling-related causes by the Cycle Oregon Fund and the Bicycle Transportation Alliance (BTA).

Short of manually making one, can a smaller version be purchased so I can put it on my bicycle. I don’t have a car but I would love to see a bicycle version to support the cause.

What a bummer. I just renewed and this plate was not an option on the renewal form. I’m not sure the additional $25 is worth it.

Can I still get my personalized plates with this?

Actually, I think it’s only an additional $5 if you request the plate at time of renewal.

The website says that personalized plates are not an option.

    Thanks for posting this info!

I don’t believe that you can get these plates personalized. It’s only $10 for a two-year period.

I tried to get these plates today and was told that they were not available until some issue relating to the phrase “share the road” was resolved. Anybody know more about this?

They should be available. There has been a redesign, but my understanding is that you can purchase the plates and they will give you a temporary plate until they get the new/final ones in.

Yeah, what’s the scoop with the redesign – who contested the verbiage? I was one of the first to request mine in early January and have now been sent my 3rd trip permit, no plates 2.5 months later.

But get this, there is a white Suburban out there with the plates on it…so at least one person got theirs sent from Salem.

I believe that people are still using their “out of date” bicycle plates. The new designs have been approved and DMV should be shipping everyone out new plates.

I don’t know if they will recall the old plates.
