If you like kids and you like bikes come and volunteer with us for a great weekend in Astoria.
That’s right – we are gearing up for a weekend camp for kids in scenic Astoria, Oregon. Cycle Oregon is hosting a camp for all the kids at their annual Weekend Ride, and the BTA will be running the camp. Can you help?
The ride is August 1-3, with the camp starting Saturday morning. The kids will learn bicycle safety from our professional bicycle safety instructors, participate in an “Alley Kitten” race, compete on a grueling obstacle course (they might have to do things like pedal fast…or slow?!), and become Jr. Park Rangers on a ride to visit the Peter Iredale shipwreck! Cycle Oregon Weekend Camp: it’s like regular summer camp but without the tasteless camp food, hokey (it will be spokey) campfire songs, and awkward co-ed dance at the end. And with more bikes.
When you volunteer you will receive a ride (for body and bike) to Astoria, as well as food and housing (for body and bike). Volunteers will ride up to Astoria with our staff Friday morning and receive a quick training about the program before assisting our instructors with lessons on Saturday and rides on Sunday. Who knows? You just might become a better, safer rider yourself.

hi,
i’m a teacher who wants to be put on the waitlist (along with my friend Kimberley), but….if no spots open to do the ride, perhaps volunteering would be the next best option!

I’d love to volunteer to teach bike safety! I’m a long-time bike Commuter/Rider/Parent. I’m interested in learning all the safety tips to help pass them along to our young audience.
