If you have been the coordinator for your workplace in previous years’ Bike Commute Challenges (this year’s program starts in two weeks), or are planning to sign up your workplace this year, come to a happy hour training session to get your questions answered and get a tour of the new website.
This Thursday, August 21st, from 6:00 – 7:00 pm at the Lucky Lab pub (915 SE Hawthorne) in Portland, BTA staff will be having beers and answering questions with workplace leaders.
Here’s a draft agenda for the hour-long event:
1. We’ve decided “coordinator” is too wonky; from now on you will all be known as Captains.
2. Technical guidelines for the new website.
3. What you can work on at your workplace to make it more bike friendly.
4. Questions and answers.
It’s a no-host bar but we will have free bike maps and information, as always. Hope to see you there!
“coordinator” = wonky
“Captain” = authoritarian, militaristic, w/ napoleonic delusions
I can’t make it to the happy hour, but if I can vote by proxy, it would be to keep calling us coordinators.
But I can live with either one. Sorry that last post sounded so grouchy, it’s not a huge deal either way. Thanks!
even if he was grouchy… I’m with bill about disliking ‘captain’…
I actually have always thought Captain was really wonky… I didn’t like it when it was part of my job title at work…
never thought coordinator was wonky… but I guess others thought differently?
Hi, How do people log trips? I can’t find that section on the website.
Captain is a common word describing a team leader in sports. I think it’s fine.
How about “Supreme Biking Person”, a nice reward for being the coordinator/captain for your work place. I also would like any suggestions for nonmonitary rewards/motivations for participants like an annual designation of “reserved spot” on the bike racks for those who ride the most miles or the most frequentlyly. One of the reasons I ride my bike to work is that I fall asleep in the car (yes, I’ve already been diagnosed borderline narcoleptic) so I won’t be coming from Philomath to Portland, but would love to know how the meeting goes.
