Bike Safety Instructor Training in Ashland
Walking and biking is a year round activity in Southern Oregon and several agencies, such as the Rogue Valley Transit District are committed to making sure as many citizens, adults and children as possible are educated and given the opportunity to walk and bike to school, work or throughout the community more frequently.
In late August I hosted a workshop to train bike safety instructors in Southern Oregon. What a diverse group! An insurance agent from Eagle Point, a police officer from Medford, community advocates and a teacher from Ashland all learned how best to teach BTA’s Bike and Pedestrian Safety Education programs.
Among the newly trained instructors was a possible new instructor for Ashland’s growing bike safety program and a new instructor for Medford’s program that is just beginning. We look forward to stories of Ashland’s continued success, and stories of new adventures from new programs in the Rogue Valley.
