South Portland transportation meeting Tuesday evening

Come to an open house meeting Tuesday evening to look at the transportation improvements that have been identified as “high priority” for the South Waterfront, North Macadam and Lair Hill neighborhoods.

South Portland Transportation Open House
5:00 – 8:00 pm, Tuesday, October 7th
David, Evans & Associates, first floor
2100 SW River Parkway

See the map and project list here; more details about the open house here.

By number, about two-fifths of the identified improvements are bicycle or pedestrian projects; two-fifths are motor vehicle projects; and another fifth are transit projects. Bike projects include SW Corbett traffic calming; the new SW Gibbs St bridge; the new Caruthers St. bridge over the Willamette; additional tram bike parking; additions to the South Willamette Greenway Trail; Ross Island Bridge sidewalk improvements; Kelly Ave. bike lanes, and more.

Along with the South Portland Transportation Strategy that identified these priorities, the city may propose a System Development Charge to raise money for transportation improvements within the neighborhood.

Whether you live, work or travel through these neighborhoods, you shouldn’t pass up this opportunity to see what’s being planned and give your feedback.

What’s the project status for the Gibbs St. Bridge? I am a potential user and am curious where the BTA is in the process. I see it’s on the stimulus estimate, does that mean we are waiting to hear if you’ll get funding?
