Walk down Peacock Lane

Want to get your kids out and active this winter? Join us for a Safer Routes to School family-friendly holiday event on December 14th at 4:30. Through this Holiday Lights Walk down Peacock Lane, we teach and encourage families to travel safely and actively. We will begin with a brief talk about pedestrian safety, and then proceed down the lane to enjoy the holiday lights on the only car-free day offered by Peacock Lane residents. There may even be a special surprise guest, riding a bakfiets filled with hot apple cider for all to enjoy! All are invited.

We will meet at the Belmont Library at 4:30 and head out to see the lights promptly at 4:45. We encourage all to make the whole day car-free and use active or public transportation to get to Peacock Lane. Close Trimet lines are the 14, 15, 66, 74, and 75. The SE Taylor bike boulevard is also close by. We hope to see you there!

Please Note! Peacock Lane lights do not begin until 5pm on the 14th, if you leave too early from the library you will get here before we’re ready. We will have the cocoa booth open; providing cocoa and cider free (donations taken to cover costs, any extra goes to local food-based charity) until 10pm, or when supplies are gone.

We will be asking everyone to walk their bikes AND we are looking for volunteers to help with the traffic from 5pm to 10pm. Please contact peacocklane@comcast.net for information or to volunteer
