Who says only humans need love on Valentine’s Day?
There are a lot of things worth showing love to on this romantic day…bicycles for instance. With all of the rain, and snow, and gravel to melt the snow, and more snow, winter weather can be extremely damaging to a bicycle.
On the weekends of February, Safer Routes to School is hosting Velotine’s – a free bicycle maintenance event to get kids’ and family members’ bikes back in shape. The event will be at four different quadrants throughout the month. There will be pumps, cleaners and basic tools for simple repairs and routine maintenance. And just to get into the spirit of the holiday, write your bicycle a love poem, dress it up with some cool decorations, or just take it on a good old-fashioned date, er, ride. Know some bicycle maintenance? Please come help us get these bikes rolling again by contacting Scott Lieuallen at (503)226-0676 ext. 22 or scottl@bta4bikes.org
