For more than a year, Gateway residents and property owners have been working with greenspaces and cycling advocates to develop a new vision for Gateway Green, a slice of land
between the I-84 and I-205 freeways near the Gateway Town Center. The Green would benefit from targeted habitat and park improvements, as well as local recreation facilities such as mountain biking tracks and jumps, cross-country and cyclocross trails, new pedestrian and bike crossings to nearby neighborhoods, and more (read BikePortland’s comprehensive report on a recent site visit).
Come hear about what could be Portland’s first bicycle recreation hub at an open house next week:
Gateway Green Open House
Tuesday, April 14th
7:00 – 8:30 pm
Gateway Elks Lodge
711 NE 100th Ave, Portland
You can also join the Friends of Gateway Green on Saturday, May 2nd, for No Ivy Day. English Ivy is a destructive invasive plant that is keeping the Green from realizing its natural potential – join with other volunteers in pulling it out! It’s great exercise, lots of fun, and important restoration work. Gloves and tools will be provided. Register here and type in “Gateway Green” as your preferred site.
