This Wednesday on the monthly KBOO Bike Show host Carl Larson discussed the current state of Columbia River Crossing planning, and alternatives to the 12-lane Interstate 5 expansion. Guests – live and on the phone – were Metro Councilor Robert Liberty, Simon Fraser University Professor Gordon Price, Mt. Hood Freeway veteran and Association of Oregon Rail and Transit Advocates leader Jim Howell, and the BTA’s Michelle Poyourow.
The group also discussed recent bridge-expansion developments in Price’s hometown of Vancouver, BC. A public-private partnership to widen the Port Mann Bridge for $3.1 billion fell apart last month, and a local university team has re-imagined the same amount of money as a complete “Light Rail Metropolis” instead.
You can listen to the one-hour show here. The CRC discussion begins after approximately 8 minutes of local announcements.
