Vancouver, WA: Making the move to cycling

In today’s Oregonian, reporter Allan Brettman takes an informative look at the growth of cycling just north of the Columbia River.

Vancouver, awarded Bronze status as a Bike Friendly City by the League of American Bicyclists in 2005 already has some fabulous support for area cyclists, including a fabulous bike map and a network of bike route signage ready to rival that of Portland.

Brettman’s article shares some eye-opening statistics and analysis about the increasing amount of cycling infrustructure and support in Southwest Washington, and he also highlights the efforts of a number of local activists like city planner Todd Boulanger and local business owner Bob Wallis.

If you want to be a part of the move to make Vancouver an even more bike friendly city, come join the meet-up tonight at Wallis Engineering on 215 SW 4th St at 6:00. For more information contact Bike Me! Vancouver.

Go Wallis Engineering! Their firm is a serious contender in the Bike Commute Challenge. Last year they came in 2nd place in their category just 3/10 of 1% behind Chris King.
