Contact your legislator about non-motorized transportation in House Bill 2001

Urgent: The BTA is still working hard to push for nonmotorized transportation funding in HB 2001, but we need you to call or write your legislator today and ask them to support investments in biking and walking.

What you can do: Download this pdf file with a summary of almost 230 proposed bike and pedestrian projects from all over Oregon. Only one quarter of these projects have been approved for funding. Find the projects in your community and tell your legislator how important they are to you!

It’s time to fill in the gaps in Oregon’s bike and pedestrian networks.

It’s important to act now. This week the House Transportation Committee adopted a series of amendments focusing on transportation policy, and voted to pass the bill on to the Revenue Committee. They’ll discuss funding issues within the bill, including the amount of aditional funding that may be provided and how it will be allocated – including how much will go toward non-motorized transportation.

HB 3399 – Vehicular Homicide: After this bill was stalled in the House Judiciary Committee, the BTA began exploring other alternatives, including an amendment within another bill in the Senate. We will continue to work with legislators during this session to address fiscal and legal complications associated with the bill, and during the interim in preparation for the next legislative session.
