Mayor Sam Adams announced his budget proposal last week, which included $500,000 set aside specifically for bike projects, and restored funding for SmartTrips and Safer Routes to School programs. This is more funding than the city’s bike program has received in many years, and the Mayor’s office intends that it grow larger every year. View a summary of the transportation budget.
The BTA and community activists like you worked hard to get bike funding into the budget, but we need your help to make it stick! All five City Commissioners must approve the budget, so tell them why affordable transportation is important to you at the Community Budget Hearing on May 21st.
