Breaking the barriers to bicycling in Washington County

Washington County Commissioner Dick Schouten wants to see the bike mode share quadruple in the next ten years, according Oregonian reporter Jill Rehkopf Smith in an article last Thursday. The bike mode share is currently between 1 and 2%.

How?

Smith reported that nine of the 25 proposals submitted in reponse to Metro’s call for Active Transportation Demonstration projects would impact Washington County. This week, the Executive Committee for Active Transportation will choose three pilot projects to receive a $25 million grant from the federal stimulus fund.
