For the last few years Oregon Food Bank has enjoyed the Bike Commute Challenge. This year, with the kickoff of a capital campaign for a new, much-needed Washington County facility, they decided to make their participation in the Challenge the basis for a fundraiser for the new facility. Employees are pledging to bike commute a certain number of times during the month, and sponsors are pledging based on that commitment. They’re getting more employees involved in the BCC than ever before and are really motivated!

Their campaign is called Biking Hunger Out of Oregon. Employees have set up an internal Google site and email list to distribute fundraising tips, invites to social events like happy hours and group rides, and to list opportunities like workshops and maintenance days. In the first week of the Challenge, employees had raised over $1000.

We’ve raised over $2000 at this point and even had employees bike to our company picnic on Saturday!
