Help improve the existing I-5 bridge bike/ped path

The bad news: the CRC and its accompanying bike/ped facilities (whether they’re stunningly world-class or just plain lousy) won’t be built for 7 to 10 years – if it gets built at all.

The good news: the City of Vancouver, in partnership with ODOT and the BTA, is proposing some improvements to the existing Columbia River I-5 bridge crossing for bicyclists and pedestrians, and they want you to take this survey about the proposed changes. You’ll also have the chance to provide additional comments and suggestions.

One of the main elements of the project is to install stencils on the bridge to encourage directional bicycle traffic (bikes rides with the flow of auto traffic) while maintaining two-way travel for pedestrians. This change and other improvements are a result of increasing use of the bridge’s bicycle and pedestrian pathway along with an increase of reported conflicts between users on the bridge.
