Answers:

Bicyclists must stop for yellow lights.
TRUE In Oregon, if you CAN stop for a yellow light, you MUST.

Child passengers on bikes are not required to wear helmets.
FALSE Just as bicyclists under 16 are required to wear helmets, passengers (in child seats, cargo bikes, etc.) under 16 are also required to wear helmets.

Bicyclists must have front and rear lights during “limited visibility conditions.”
FALSE You are required by law to have a front light but not a rear. You just a rear reflector. A light is a much better idea…but the law doesn’t require one.

It is a Class D violation to operate a bicycle without a saddle.
TRUE The law doesn’t say you have to have pedals, a chain, or tires…but ORS 814.470 makes it clear that you must have a saddle. Now you know.
