According to the Walk + Bike Ambassadors here at the BTA, the best part about teaching bike safety education courses is the community ride on the last day. Kids get to celebrate successfully completing the course by going on a fun ride through their neighborhood with their instructors and adult volunteers.
Today, the fifth graders at Bear Creek Elementary in Bend, Oregon have an extra special ride leader: Ryan Trebon, a professional racer and national champion in both cyclocross and cross country mountain bike racing. Read a full report of the community ride in the Bend Bulletin.

The opportunity to have a professional athlete come and inspire kids and families to walk and bike to school is a great addition to a comprehensive Safe Routes to School program.
