Free workshops and bike tune-ups for families in Portland this month

Two Safe Routes workshops this month will discuss strategies for promoting active transportation at school. Coffee, pastries and fruit will be provided at each of these trainings. In addition, parents may pick up promotional incentives for students the city is offering a “Family Day at the Portland Zoo” package with TriMet tickets to raffle winners.

  • Tom Riley, Lent K-8 – Encouraging Bicycling at Lent School
  • Olivia Quiroz, Lincoln Park, James John and Clarendon at Portsmouth – Promoting school wellness policies and encouraging active transportation with Latino families

Join Safe Routes to School on January 25th (Monday) to develop strategies for engaging other school parents and staff in walking and biking activities at your school.  Learn from James John teacher Jane Harold about the innovative programs she has initiated in North Portland. Motivate yourself and others to Overcome Inertia!

In East Portland, two upcoming Fix-It Fairs offer free basic bike tune-ups for students and families.
