ODOT seeks statewide input on Transportation Safety Action Plan

Residents in Oregon City, Burns, Salem, Klamath Falls and St Helens will have a chance to weigh in on long rage safety goals for Oregon at upcoming public meetings on the Transportation Safety Action Plan (TSAP) update. Whether you’re a volunteer or professional, ODOT wants to hear your perspective to make sure statewide priorities are reflected in the updated plan.

To understand how long-range planning can impact short-term safety conditions, consider this: the first TSAP was created in 1995. Four years later, for the first time in 50 years, Oregon posted a safety rate above the national average. The state’s safety rating has remained consistent since then, but with a constantly evolving transportation network it’s important to adjust our long range safety plans and goals. The last update was in 2004.

Upcoming meetings will take place from 8:30 am to 12:30 pm. Look for more information on meeting locations at ODOT’s website.

These fatality and injury rates are a function of what?
    incidents per population?
    incidents per mile of road?
    per vehicle mile?
