Go online to see commuter updates for Springwater Trail repaving

Portland Parks and Recreation is about to start repaving 8 miles of the Springwater Corridor, from SE 28th Avenue, just east of the Three Bridges section, to SE 174th and Jenne Road near the border with the City of Gresham.

Because they’re anticipating periodic closures of the trail between April and August, Parks & Rec is taking extra steps to share up-to-date information with commuters and trail users. They’ll be posting the information on signs at main access points along the corridor, on a special website, and on Twitter.

More details from the city:

The repaving will involve laying a 2” porous asphalt overlay over the existing trail, as well as other improvements, including the replacement of wood and metal bollards in a new concrete band, replacement of trail and bollard signage, and new pavement markings, from the existing Union Pacific Railroad Bridge to the east city border.

No continuous segment of the trail longer than two miles will be closed at any time, but several small segments could be closed simultaneously.

When the project begins, current closure updates will be posted on www.portlandparks.org. Beginning April 1, trail users follow @springwaternews on Twitter, where closure updates will be tweeted as soon as they become available.

The BTA will be working with Parks & Recreation throughout the duration of the project to make sure detour routes are safe, convenient, and adequately signed for bicyclists.
