Tour de St Honoré Draws 100+ Bicyclists to Celebrate Bikes and Support the BTA

A lovely sunny Sunday morning welcomed the first-annual Tour de St Honoré, hosted by the boulangerie et patisserie in Lake Oswego. Pre-registration filled up quickly, with more than 100 cyclists hitting the roads on Sunday on rides ranging from 10 to 40 miles.

View more photos from the ride here.

Before and after the Tour, community members and riders purchased raffle tickets at the Bike Gallery, at the Alice Awards + Auction, and at St Honoré for a chance to win great prizes from our sponsors. All raffle proceeds support our advocacy, education, and encouragement work. Thanks to all ticket purchasers for supporting the BTA!

After riding to the Lake Oswego bakery from Portland, I was happy to stay at the start/finish line and chat with folks stopping by for their morning café et croissant. It was a valuable opportunity to talk to southwest Portland residents about important bike issues and the BTA’s work in their community.

After the tour, riders returned to St Honoré to fuel up on baked delights and try their luck at Tour de France trivia (What are the four jersey colors worn by winners, and what do they mean?). Trivia and raffle winners took home some great prizes, including bike gear from Gore, a baking class for two at St Honoré, and a bike tour of wine country from Portland Pedal Tours and a 2010 Trek Allant from the Bike Gallery.

Thanks to the folks at St Honoré for hosting the event and keeping us all well-fed, to the lovely ladies of Sorella Forte for leading the ride groups, to the Bike Gallery for providing a bike-tuning station and staff, and to our sponsors for donating prizes.

The Tour de St Honoré will return next year with new routes and more riders, and of course the same great food and good cause. Check the BTA Blog for more information. Until then, head down to St Honoré (on NW Thurman and also in Lake Oswego) to watch the Tour de France in July – they’ll be broadcasting the race on the big screen at both locations.
