Win a Trek Allant Commuter Bike + $150 Gift Card to go toward rain gear from Bike Gallery!

September is fast approaching, and the BTA is exited for this year’s Bike Commute Challenge!

When you join or renew your BTA membership through the Bike Commute Challenge,  you will be entered to win an awesome Trek Allant Commuter Bike + $150 gift card for rain gear from Bike Gallery! We’ll also throw in a light set from Portland Design Works!   The drawing will take place on October 10, 2012, at our Awards Party*.

The Trek Allant is your practical city bike with its lightweight aluminum frame, 21-speed drivetrain to easily handle hills, and fast 700c wheels. The upright posture and stable geometry make the Allant comfortable and easy to navigate around traffic and potholes. It comes commuter-ready with fenders and rear cargo rack. It’s available in men’s and women’s specific models.

Hmmm… clicking the “light set” hyperlink above, the PDW “Spaceship” headlight intrigues me with the part about “built to withstand rain”. I really like the light from my PB Blaze 2-watt, but it’s a joke (not funny, actually) in Oregon rain. I have rebuilt mine with Saran wrap, but *this* looks really good:

(I like the PDW “Shiny Object”, too – though I only bought it as backup for the excellent Topeak Road Morph pump… and because it’s a shiny object.)

Rain gear is a conundrum: Either you get wet; or you get soaked with sweat. At least if the rain soaks you, it drips and evaporates off of you. Does Bike Gallery have rain chaps?

For the prizes and everything else…… probably does not apply to those of us who ride to and from work in Seattle? or should I hurry and order my “riding shirt”?
