Apply by December 31st to use 36 bikes, a trailer, 90 helmets and other resources for the 2013-2014 school year at no cost as part of our new Jump Start Program! We will provide the materials and the educator training, the school district must allow students to learn bike safety education, and the community must provide educators (P.E. teachers, health teachers, partners like Parks and Rec or YMCA).
This program is a great way to try out an in-school bike education program for students that includes on-bike and on-street lessons. With the Safe Routes for Kids curriculum, educator training by our experienced trainers (we have taught 49,000 students since 1998!) and, most importantly, your excitement, you can be part of the movement of expanding bike education across the state and teaching thousands of students to bike safely!
Apply by sending a Letter of Inquiry to LeeAnne Fergason (leeanne@btaoregon.org) stating how you would use these resources and a list of committed community partners that includes the school district.
This year the Jump Start fleet is being used in the Gresham-Barlow School District. I’ll keep you posted about how this exciting pilot is going!
