With the Bike Commute Challenge well underway, it’s as good of a time as any to learn some of the basic rules of the road, pick up some new tips and tricks for gear and maintenance, and socialize with other folks who are also hitting the streets on two wheels throughout the month of September. This is a great introductory workshop for people who are new to bicycling or interested in learning more about how to enjoy safe and comfortable bike commuting in all seasons. Experienced commuters are encouraged to come and share their tips with fellow riders and hopefully walk away with new knowledge as well.
There are two excellent opportunities to attend one of the BTA’s signature “Bike Commute Workshop” events today; the festivities start with a Bike Commute Workshop Brown Bag in Lake Oswego at the Main Fire Station (300 B Ave.) at Noon. Please RSVP to Susan Millhauser if you’re planning on stopping by. The event is free and open to the public, and the Fire Station is accessible via TriMet lines 35, 36, and 37, check out the City of Lake Oswego’s event website for more information.
The second Bike Commute Workshop that’s free and open to the public today will be held in conjunction with our fine partners at the Swan Island Transportation Management Association, who are helping us host a Bike Commute Workshop today at 4:00 at TILT at 3449 N Anchor Street. Come on by, pick up an outrageously delicious burger and learn all about the efforts of the Bicycle Transportation Alliance and the Swan Island TMA to make the industrial neighborhood more friendly to people riding bikes and taking transit.
We hope to see you at one of these events! For more information on future Bike Commute Workshops or other events hosted by the Bicycle Transportation Alliance, be sure to bookmark the BTA’s Events Page. You’ll notice that we have forthcoming Bike Commute Workshops free and open to the public planned next week in Vancouver and downtown Portland.
