The Monroe Street Neighborhood Greenway has gone from a key campaign focus for the Bicycle Transportation Alliance (as one of our Blueprint projects) and Bike Milwaukie, to being identified as a top priority in the City of Milwaukie’s Transportation System Plan (TSP) and one of nine of this year’s goals for Milwaukie City Council.
Having secured funding for planning from the Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT), Milwaukie will be holding the first public meeting about the project on Wednesday, December 4th.
When complete, this will be the City of Milwaukie’s first neighborhood greenway. It will connect the riverfront, Main Street, and light rail attractions of the city’s downtown directly to Milwaukie neighborhoods all the way out to 82nd Avenue! Not just a project for people who ride bikes, the Monroe Neighborhood Greenway aims to make walking a more viable option, too.
If you want to learn more about what the Monroe Neighborhood Greenway and its outreach and design process, be sure to attend this meeting!
