There will be an opportunity to pledge your support in the next phase of our work, and Alice Award winners will be celebrated for their work in getting our region where we are now.
- Alice Encore (after party): We are keeping the party going from 8:30 – 11:30 p.m. with our newly added after party, Alice Encore. This is an opportunity for even more of our friends to come celebrate and have fun! Your $30 ticket (included in the Alice Awards + Auction ticket price) includes a complimentary drink ticket and food. There will be dancing, lots of games (such as a life-sized Connect Four and gold sprints), and the big reveal of our new brand. You’ll also have the option to take it easy by the bonfire with a cup of Nossa Familia coffee.
Join us as we award the winners, honor our past, reflect on our current work, and invigorate our members, supporters, volunteers, and staff for what’s to come. Proceeds of the evening will help launch a statewide Safe Routes to School For Every Kid campaign that will prioritize Title 1 (low income) schools in Oregon.
Ticket sales have ended. See you Saturday!
Meet Malina. Malina is a 5th grader at Sabin School in Portland. When she’s not biking around town for errands and fun, she’s biking to school. She’s been walking and biking to school since kindergarten. She feels safe because she has access to bike lanes, bike boxes, bike sensors at intersections and complete sidewalks.
Malina likes to bike because it give her freedom. She likes to pump her legs and turn her handle bars instead of sitting still in a car. Malina wishes more kids had the option to bike to school because it’s good exercise and you feel more awake at school, ready for the day.
Meet Aysia. Aysia is a 6th grader at Irving Elementary School in Bethel. Her preferred mode of transportation to school since the first grade has been walking. She likes walking because it keeps her active and helps with her sense of direction.
While parts of Aysia’s route are safe, there is no crosswalk and there are fast moving cars where she crosses the main street every day. She wishes she felt safer on her walk and that more kids were walking to school so that drivers are more aware and careful of kids that are traveling on foot.
Meet Tatum. Tatum is a 5th grader at Cedaroak Park Primary School in West Linn. Since kindergarten, Tatum has taken the bus to school. She feels safe on the bus and loves to have the time to socialize on the way to and from school, including conversations with her favorite bus driver, Lorrie.
While Tatum enjoys taking the bus to school, she would love to have the option to walk and bike to school some days. She lives just off busy HWY 43, so riding her bike is not a safe option. Walking is also not an option due to inconsistent sidewalks and heavy traffic during morning commute hours. While the bus is the safest option for her, she would love to have the option for a more active way to get to school.
